What a KDS does

A kitchen display system, or KDS, is a live screen-based order queue for the kitchen. It shows what needs to be prepared, the relevant order notes and the current status.

The value is in the handoff

A KDS matters when it reduces uncertainty between guest, waiter and kitchen. The team can see the same order context and service staff can answer guests without repeatedly calling the pass.
